Functions of Parishad

According to the second schedule of Upazila Parishad Act-1998, the functions of the Upazila Parishad are as follows

 

  1. Five-year and various development programs are planned.
  2. To implement the program of various government departments handed over to the council and to supervise and coordinate the activities of the department.
  3. Construction, repair and maintenance of inter-union connecting roads.
  4. To ensure optimum utilization of underground water resources, Upazila Parishad adoption and implementation of small irrigation projects according to the government guidelines.
  5. Public health, nutrition and family planning services.
  6. Improve sanitation and sewerage system and supply of improved drinking water.
  7. Encouragement and support for the spread of education at the upazila level.
  8. Supervising the activities of the concerned organizations and providing assistance to them for improving standards of secondary education and madrasa education programs.
  9.  Cooperative societies and non-governmental volunteer organizations to help and coordinate their work.
  10. Implementation and implementation of activities for the development of women, children, social welfare and forest resources.
  11. Procurement and implementation of programs for the development of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forest resources.
  12. Discuss the activities of the police department including the development of law and order situation in the upazila and regularly send the report to the senior authority.
  13. Providing necessary assistance to the government to implement, implement and implement government programs in self-employment and poverty alleviation.
  14. Coordination and testing of the union council's development activities and providing necessary assistance.
